FAQs

  • Street football is a type of association football, played 3-on-3 with small goals and a framed pitch of 10x15m. Matches are 8 minutes long and both teams play without goalkeepers.

The small team size, pitch and ease of play is optimal for teams of all skill levels and ages.

  • Anyone! We do have a recommended lowest age of 12 years, so that the level of all players in the youth group (12-15) is somewhat equal.

Furthermore, Medis Edition is a mixed tournament - requiring at least one woman and one man in each team.

    1.2 Pitch
The pitch has a size of 10x15m, surrounded by a frame which is in turn connected to the goalposts.

    1.3 Goal and target area
The goal has a size of 1,5x1m. The target area has a radius of 40cm from the center of the goal. Players may only have one foot inside the target area at any time.

    1.4 Match time
The matches are 8 minutes long, without any breaks or time-outs.

    1.5 Ball
All matches are played with a size 4 streetsoccer-ball.

    1.6 Equipment
Studded shoes are not allowed, shoes with a flat underside are recommended. Shin guards are recommended but not obligatory.

    2. Match rules

2.1 Substitutes, coaches and team captains
Teams are allowed to have one substitute, with unlimited substitutions throughout the game. Coaches are not required. One person on the team is appointed team captain and responsible for administration of the team.

    2.2 Kick-off
The referee starts the game by throwing the ball onto the pitch.

    2.3 Post-goal
After a team successfully scores a goal, the other team get to start with the ball on their half of the pitch after a signal from the referee.

    2.4 Disruption of play
If the ball gets shot out of the frame, the other team starts with the ball on their side of the pitch. If a player purposefully tries to halt the flow of the game by e.g. pressing the ball between their body and the frame, the referee shall order a new kick-off in accordance with 2.2.

    2.5 Free kick
Free kicks are not used in street football. If a rule violation occurs, the other team gets to start with the ball on their side of the pitch. Applicable rule violations are:
    - Player using their arms to hinder others
    - Jumping towards other players
    - Tackling in a disruptive manner
    - Purposefully touching the ball with hands or arms

    2.6 Expulsion/red card
If a rule violation occurs, the referee should primarily talk to the player in question and try to calm them down. Yellow cards are not used in street football. After repeated violations, players can recieve a red card.

Some offenses can also result in a direct red card:
    - Attempting to harm other players, e.g. by kicking or pushing them to the ground
    - Beating other players with fists or head
    - Disregarding the risks of their actions in play
    - Biting other players

Getting a red card expels the player from the rest of the game, but a substitute can take their place after two minutes.

    2.7 Penalty
After a red card is issued, the other team recieves a penalty. Penalties are taken at the team’s own goal, aiming to hit the other team’s goal. All other players must stand along the frame during the penalty, not moving until the ball touches the goal or frame.
